Maintaining your health should be a goal in life, but often making a spa appointment is left out of the personal health equation.
Many of us make appointments to take care of our nails, our hair, our toes, but too often we forget to make an appointment to take care of our body. Taking care of the body is what spa appointments are for. Many may ask, “Isn’t a ‘spa’ a spa pool?—a hot tub that you sit and relax in with different kinds of jets to massage your body? Well actually—no. A spa pool may be used in what is called a SPA, but the spa itself is something different.
Services provided at Spa’s might include: access to steam rooms, dry heat rooms (clay) rooms, hot and cold saunas, massage, body scrubs, acupressure or acupuncture and—believe it or not some “alone” time. How we feel often affects how we behave and respond to certain situations. Stress, hard work and our busy lifestyles can take a toll and when it does, we find ourselves feeling ill. We then turn to a health provider for healing and perhaps at that point prevention crosses our minds.
Spas are a form of prevention. These services can be part of your illness prevention and health maintenance. This approach to body maintenance should be part of anyone’s weekly health routines, such as, regular exercise and walking. By scheduling to spend time with yourself to relax, meditate, or simply to be present with yourself and your body can help in preventing certain illnesses, according to experts—but there is a slight catch. Westerner’s will have to get over their modesty in order to receive the body treatments: you might find yourself sitting with other people in the nude. Spas have separate areas for men and women. The benefits are well worth it.
As more and more people respond to the need to prevent illness and maintain health, larger Spas are developing more services, such as nutritionists/dieticians. As the trend to include expanded spa capabilities continues, more and more specially trained staff—partnering with familiar, trusted spa professionals—will be available to address lifestyle issues in the comfort and security of our favorite spas. Wellness is far more than the absence of disease. At its best, it looks and feels terrific. We can achieve true wellness by turning to professionals we already know and trust. The encouraging and supportive environment of a spa may be an ideal place to get back on track and take care of your self inside and out.
Spas have gained popularity in recent years. Centers for peace, quiet, and tranquility have sprung up in the heart of the busiest cities—San Francisco isn’t any different. Spas, like Imperial Spa, a Korean day spa, are finding a home in the Western Addition.
Imperial Spa is located on Geary at Fillmore open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is an affordable get away (starting at a $20 visit or $1,500 year-long membership) in the city for Westerners in search of a health spa experience. The facility is attractive with an elegant hardwood décor with staff that provides courteous and professional services. Guests are provided with robes, lockers, a changing area and several treatments to select from. The most popular treatments are the body scrub and the massages.
If you are seeking professional and attentive service in a lovely environment you might want to set up an appointment at Imperial Spa by calling (415) 771-1114 or visiting http://imperialspa.biz.
