NEW COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER DEDICATED

Fri, 02 May 2008 14:17:00
Article by:

With the entrance located on Ocean Avenue (at Howth), the newly opened Community Health and Wellness Center (CHWC) serves as a gateway to the City College of San Francisco (CCSF) Ocean Campus. The $85 million cost of construction was financed with proceeds from the 2001 and 2005 Proposition A Education Facilities Improvement Bonds passed by SF voters.

Thousands of CCSF students have enrolled in Spring 2008 classes offered at CHWC. This state of the art facility is designed to consolidate the requirements of physical education programs with those of the men’s and women’s athletic departments. It provides a home for team athletics, a dance program, physical education, and martial arts classes. The complex includes a weight room, fitness center, and full-sized swimming pool.

Established in 1935, CCSF is the largest single-administration community college in California. It serves more than 100,000 credit and noncredit students annually at 10 campuses and over 100 instructional sites in San Francisco.
