San Francisco Marathon

Article by:
The San Francisco Marathon takes place once again in 2017 on Sunday, July 23.
While it may not seem as prestigious as the Boston or New York marathons, the San Francisco Marathon surely has views that are hard to beat. Runners participating in the race will pass through Haight-Ashbury, Golden Gate Park, Crissy Field, the Embarcadero and the Mission. They will see sights such as Coit Tower, AT&T Park and the Golden Gate Bridge. It is the city’s natural beauty that makes its marathon unlike any other.

The 2017 marathon will take place on Sunday, July 23. Though the title of the event indicates just one race, the San Francisco Marathon is actually multiple races in one. Runners can chose to participate in a 5k, one of two half marathons, a full marathon, or an ultramarathon, which involves running the full marathon course twice.  All the races, except for the second half marathon, start at Mission Street and the Embarcadero. The second half marathon begins at John F. Kennedy Drive and 47th Street.
