The Board of Supervisors recently unanimously approved the San Francisco Center Transit District Plan which was signed into law by Mayor Lee.

The plan is the city’s vision for how the area around the new Transbay Terminal will be developed. It calls for 4,000 new housing units, 1,000 new hotel rooms, and 6 million square feet of offices to be built near the terminal. It also calls for the construction of 11 acres of new parks, plazas and living streets.

“This district will be transformed from an area once dominated by automobiles to lively streets, abundant parks and more open spaces,” said Mayor Lee in a press release. “With even more transit service planned for the future and the new transit center now under construction, this is the best place to accommodate growth in the city. We can build and improve our city while creating jobs for our residents and supporting our continued economic recovery.”
