Normally, people do not encourage their dogs to bark. Dog owners normally love their fury companions, but not the sounds they make. On Saturday, July 21, owners may let their dogs sing. At Crissy Field during the day will be the “Bark for Life San Francisco” event. Bark for Life is a non-competitive dog walk that raises money for the American Cancer Society. It is also a series of contests aimed at dogs, dog owners and dog enthusiasts.

The event will include, among many other programs, the “My Dog’s Cuter than Your Dog” contest. Prior to the day of the Bark, dog owners will post pic-tures of their dogs on the Bark for Life website. Event participants and non-participants will then “vote” for the cutest dogs. They will vote by clicking on donation buttons for the cancer society. The more $1 donations voters make, the more votes they will give the dogs. The votes will be tallied on the day of the Bark and the cutest dog will be crowned.

Persons who are interested in attending the event can register online at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=36321&pg=entry. They can also register at 9 a.m. on the day of the event. Registration is $25 prior to July 21, and $30 on the day of the event.
