(Editor’s note: Each month, we now include with news and information from our focus neighborhoods a question posed to random residents that pertain to their area, the city or what’s going on in the world around us.)

This month’s question: If you could do one thing to improve your neighborhood, what would it be?”

Alamo Square
“Our neighborhood is making great progress, especially in the last several years. The improvement in Divisadero Street has been wonderful with the new businesses, the parklet at MoJo café and bicycle shop and several other new businesses. The greening of the street from Geary to Haight has added immeasurably to our community with special thanks to Mayor Gavin Newsom and Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi.
“What Divisadero Street needs now is a great bakery and a good bookstore and some clothing and shoe stores. We could use a little more attention to the park at Alamo Square, but our gardener, Vicki, is doing the best job she can with no help.”
—Owen O’Donnell, Alamo Square Neighborhood Association Board Member

The neighborhood Farmers Market is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday at Grove Street and Divisadero. Mingle with neighbors and enjoy local food, music and more!

The third Saturday of every month is the D5DOG Park Clean-Up. Meet at 10:30 a.m. at the top of the hill on the west side. Free coffee, donuts and clean-up supplies are provided.

Alamo Square Neighborhood Association’s general meeting will be held on July 26.  All meetings, unless otherwise mentioned, are held at Chateau Tivoli 1057 Steiner St. and begin at 7:30 pm.
